‘Vampire Diaries’ Star Frustrated With Lack Of Support From Hollywood For Gulf Region
Ian Somerhalder returned to his home state of Louisiana to help bring light to the devastating situation in the Gulf. The Vampire Diaries star, also known for his role as Boone on Lost, is hoping more people get involved with the oil spill relief efforts and he is pointing his finger directly at those in the entertainment industry.
“I was literally asking myself, ‘Where is Hollywood in this? Where are they?’” said Somerhalder. “The people who love this area. The Brad Pitts of the world. Where are they? I don’t know.”
Somerhalder told E! News that he believes a telethon is a good way for celebrities to get involved and raise money for the region. As mentioned earlier on Ecorazzi, WGNO in New Orleans is reporting that Larry King is planning a telethon next week.
Last month the actor filmed a Public Service Announcement (PSA) for the St. Tammany Humane Society to draw attention to the plight of Louisiana’s state bird, the brown pelican, whose nests and breeding grounds are being affected by the oil.
